My brain scares me

I was in the supermarket, my MP3 player set to shuffle all and Love is Strange from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack came on (I know, I'm sad) and I had a sudden vision of John as Johnny Castle and Rodney as Baby. I nearly laughed out loud at the thought of them dancing together to Love is Strange. Rodney, having got his confidence for the dance is teasing John about his spaghetti arms.

Then, the next track came on. It was the theme from Flashdance (clearly my MP3 player was having an 80s moment) and my mind instantly gave me John as the welder/wannabe dancer. I think this actually works for the characters, better than Dirty Dancing any way. Rodney would be the boss of the steel mill and John as the 'exotic' dancer. Obviously in my head he'd be a whole hell of a lot more exotic than in the original movie. I've always wondered quite what the demand was for what amounts to a PG-13 dance recital amongst blue collar workers of Pittsburgh. 

Anyway, if I ever finish the things I'm working on I might just write it. If anyone else wants to write it first, or make the movie poster, by all means do. I'd love to read it.
