Sometimes, being British is great

There are times when this country makes me mad but then I see a picture like the seventh one in this sequence and I realize it's not too bad to be British. The ninth one is pretty damn pleasing too.

Wow. I almost cried when I saw the officers marching. I so wish my country would get its head out of its ass.

We only did it a few years back and there were so many people who more or less said the world would end if gay people were allowed to serve openly. Weirdly, it didn't :-)

I hadn't realized that it was that recent. And really funny how the world didn't end. In fact, I'll bet they do their jobs a whole lot better now they don't have to worry so freaking much. Also, do you know how much *money* we waste kicking out gay people?? I saw a figure that it was like $500,000 to train and replace someone, especially some of the more technical jobs. WTF are people thinking?

It's mad that even just using the cost point of view they still can't get it. To be honest I'd suspect that had something to do with us getting rid of it too. That and the numbers in the military were droping too fast.

Isn't it crazy that even money can't sway the ingrained bigot?

That is definitely reason to be proud. I look forward to the day DADT is repealed so that the LGBT members of the US Armed forces can be as open.

I still find it surprising the old buffers in charge here managed to get their heads out of their arses to do it. I think this is the best thing Tony Blair did in power to be honest.
