Don't feel bad about the woman's comment about your books. I got the same reaction from the people hired by the Army every time we made a permanent change of station move. Books are some of the heaviest things to move, other than major appliances and large furniture, and moving companies hate them. I never had much in the way of furniture or appliances when I was in the Army because of the constant moving around, but I was almost always over the weight limit during moves because of my books. Which majorly sucked, since we had to pay by the pound whenever we went beyond the weight limit!
Best of luck with the hand over. You might consider writing up an SOP to help you with that, so that you have a hard copy to refer to in case you forget something and also to leave with them. They are a royal pain in the ass to write up, but priceless when the job has to be taken over by someone else unfamiliar with it.
