Gobe trotting...again

I'm off to Sweden again tomorrow (early flight, blah!) for a workshop. It's not in Stockholm as usual but out on the Baltic coast at this place http://www.djuronaset.com/english/

It looks rather nice. I love Swedish food so I'm hoping for good things there and the whole place looks very relaxing in general. Which would be great, except for the amount of work we need to get through. I think I'll be spending my free time working, which is so very wrong. I'm naturally a slacker and I find the concept of 50 hour work weeks positively frightening.

In the notes from the meeting organizer there is the fantastic statement that

There will be the opportunity to swim in the Baltic but you will be asked to sign a waiver to say that [name of company] will not be held responsible should you get sick from the cold water.

You know, I think I'll pass.

Have fun, anyway! :D

It's good here. The others have gone sailing so I can relax a little :-)

Now sailing is one sport I really don't get. Okay, I don't get most sports, actually, but still.

You could also write Nephelai. ;p *not really subtle*

Not only is it sailing...*shudders*...but sailing in the dark, in the fucking Baltic...*double shudder* I really don't like water I can't see the bottom of.

Was that a hint? It was a bit obscure for me :-)

I am actually going to sign off in a mo and do some thinking, if nothing else, about Nephelai. I can use my terror of water (hence the no sailing) in the next chapter as I think Rodney and I see eye to eye on the point.

I could imagine that Rodney doesn't like water all that much, yeah.

Btw, I was meaning to ask you - what's gobe trotting? *grins and runs away*

Globe trotting...hmmm I hate having to define colloquial English. I guess it means traveling, but not just standard once a year holiday travel. Someone who travels a lot because they have loads of money would be said to globe trot. I don't have bags of cash but I go to a lot of places with work so I was kind of being ironic.

People think it must be great tavelling all the time for work but it gets dull after a while, especially going for a day a week to the same dull suburb of Stockholm for several weeks in a row.

I was in Sweden 2 weeks ago and I'm back again (I think I've been to Sweden about 11 times this year). I was in China in May and the US in November 2006. China and the US were very cool. To be fair, so is Stockholm when you get time to spend there.

Wow, looks gorgeous.

It is very nice. I went out and took some photos but I forgot the cable to connect the camera to the laptop. Idiot girl.

Hmmmm I really am an idiot but I found a slot for the memory card that I never knew was there before so I can upload my photos. I'll do that tomorrow I think though.

Oh, looks very nice! But swimming in the Baltic... that's cold enough even in summer... *shivers* Hope you have a good time despite all the working!

Ok, so I;ve actually typed a response to this 3 times now but the network connection is rubbish. The place is lovely though. I had some good food, went for a nice walk and have now had some beer. I may be a little tiddly :-)
