Aug. 23rd, 2007 07:36 pm So, I just went for some acupuncture for the first time ever as I'm feeling stressed and apathetic. I've no idea if the treatment'll work but the acupuncturist was really cool. He's a fan of Buffy, CSI and Alias and we had a great chat. Later, while I was lying there with pins in me for 20 mins I was thinking about fics and I've a few ideas that someone should write.
1. The obvious one - Rodney is an acupuncturist and John is a...something else...who goes for help. I thought fear of flying but that's wrong. Maybe a cop who wants to quit smoking or drinking. Maybe he's a pilot who comes for PTSD after Afghanistan. Maybe it's for back pain. I like the idea of Rodney having had acupuncture because some ex made him years ago and he knows it works but can't explain it. He then has to learn everything about it, even going to China etc. He's the best accupuncturist in the West :-)
2. One that may have been done already - Rodney plans crimes. Perfect crimes that he doesn't commit. He recruits a team for a each job and only talks to them by phone. One job he recruits John and become fascinated by him over the phone. Eventually they meet and McShep ensues.
3. The one I'm going to write - Murder at Darley Chase. I adore golden age detective novels and love that whole 1930s era. So I want to do the ultimate cross over. Rodney is an engineer who's invented a new engine or something and the Nazi's want it so the government assign him a protection agent, Albert Campion. Rodney thinks he's a buffoon of course and barely tolerates him. They go to a weekend party at Darley Chase, the home of Rodney's sponsor Lord Darley. Other guests are Lord Peter Wimsey an maybe Miss Marple. Sheppard's invited by the daughter of the house who's besotted by him. Murder and mayhem ensure in a proper 1930s style. John and Rodney get together in the end of course.
So, I'm going to write number 3. I love the idea of 2 but it'd take a lot of thinking about to plan it all that I can't do right now. Thought I'd put them out there for anyone who want's them.
