I'm just writing the part 2 of Intolerable and I've written 'the doors of the transporter glided shut.'

Why isn't the word glid?  It sounds better in my sentence but it's wrong. Things don't slided, they slid so why not glid?  :-(

Yay to part 2!! ANd from my hazily remembered English lessons, the past tense used to be glad but has been replaced by glided. Still doesn't make much sense though :(

They taught you useful stuff in English lessons? We got to read Northanger Bloody Abbey and Lord of the Fucking Flies and that was about it. Useful things like grammar you were supposed to just 'absorb'.

Honestly, it's hard to make it work with those words. You could say someone watched it glide shut. Or the doors slid shut. English is very weird.

I think I solved it, but it was all a bit of a haze. I've writtem more in the past two days than ever before. Unfortunaltey I've not maanged to finsh part 2 today because I had to go to work. Damn them for making me work for a living.
