I'm in another galaxy...

I'm in Sweden for a presentation skills course and it's in a meeting room named Pegasus!

Hee! You know, I've never really thought about it until now, but we had a meeting room at the company where I used to work named Pegasus.

It was also the name of one of our servers too.

huh... weird, we had a server called pegasus too...

I guess greek myths or star signs is a common theme for meeing rooms and servers. Or whoever named yours was a Stargate fan :-)

We used to have servers named after Harry Potter characters. Our meeting rooms back in the UK are named after cities or, in some very sad cases, Ford cars.

Sweden? Am I being thick here? Aren't you usually in England? Did you really have to go all the way to Sweden for a course?

Cool though! Pegasus! Did you tell anyone who's on the course with you? Or just grin and not tell anyone why?? *g*

You're right, I live in the UK but I work for a Swedish company so I spend a lot of time in Sweden, usually Stockholm. I suppose it is a bit far for just a course but it's good to actually meet my collegues who work here.

aha! makes sense! it must be nice to be able to meet your colleagues; i work for an american company with offices all over the place, i'm going to meet some of my german colleagues in a few weeks cause my sister works there and i'm going out for our birthday, but the others are in Mumbai and Dallas! what i wouldn't give to be able to pop out to Dallas for a trip!

I managed to swing a trip to Chicago and San Diego last year and I was in Beijing in May this year. I can't remember how many times I've been to Sweden this year. It sounds glamourous but it's mostly exhausting :-)

I can now do a mean presentation though. Really, really great course.

Where abouts in Germany are you off to?

[identity profile] rasah.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankfurt - my sister moved out there a while ago and it's our birthday soon, she works for the same company so obviously with colleagues of mine - they have a rule out there that on your birthday you have to take beer's in to work, so my brother in law and i are going in in the afternoon with beer for everyone!

i've only been once before, 3 years ago, so i'm really looking forward to it. i went to mumbai on a work trip for a couple of weeks but that's about it!

And no, I kept the glee at the name to myself.

Oh, where in Sweden? *curious*
I happen to be a citizen of that particular galaxy...

[identity profile] anyanka-eg.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I never knew that. I'm in Lund for the rest of the day then off to Copenhagen for the night as I'm on the red eye flight home tomorrow morning.

This is only my second time in Lund as I usually visit in Stockholm. I've taken in Ronneby, Karlskroner (sp?) and Gothemburg though in the past.

I meant to ask where in Sweden you are?

[identity profile] zinfic.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
I live in Norrköping, also known as 'The Manchester of Sweden'. It's on the east coast, a bit south of Stockholm. Lovely city!

[identity profile] anyanka-eg.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Stockholm is lovely. I'll be there in a couple of weeks actually, well near by in Djurhamn for a 2.5 day workshop. I won't get any time to spend in the city this time though. Earlier this year I finally got to see the Vasa and I was awe struck.

I'm not sure I said this already but I live in the Manchester of England :-)

I'm in Denmark now, in a very nice room in the Hilton at Copenhagen airport. I might be forced to have a bath after dinner and put the robe and slippers on :-)

[identity profile] zinfic.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, what a coincidence. I'll probably be going to Stockholm in a couple of weeks myself on a writing thing (kick-off for NaNoWriMo).

I didn't know you lived in Manchester, cool! I don't know how similar the two cities are today, but Norrköping used to be the centre of the textile industry in Sweden, so that's where the name comes from.

Have a nice bath... ;)
