Today we had a 'come to Sweden, it's great' meeting at work for those who are moving. Of course none of us know if we're really moving yet as we haven't had firm offers or details of jobs or pay. What? Still? I hear you say. Yes, sometimes I wonder if I should move as there's a phrase about piss-ups, breweries and organisational abilities that spring to mind to do with my company. Anyway, that aside it was quite a good meeting and I found out some useful stuff.

I shall be visiting there twice in the next two weeks so I guess I'll be seeing a bit of it. A week from today I'll drop the cat off at mum and dad's and then on Wednesday evening I fly to Lund for a meeting on Thursday. On the plus side I'm staying at a nice hotel for the Wednesday night, not that I'll see it that much. On Thursday a night at the Hilton at Copenhagen, which is nice. Then I fly back to the UK, but not to Manchester, to Heathrow, because it's Pegasus 4. Woohoo. Still not sure how I'll get back from London but I guess train.

Wednesday the week after it's our 'pre-visit' to Lund, where the company take us round, show us stuff, talk about tax etc. The company pay for it all and they pay for Friday and Saturday nights at the Malmo Hilton which will just be holiday. My mate is coming out to meet up and we're going shopping in Copenhagen.

I get back on the Sunday and collect the cat from the parents. Cool, but busy.

Oh, and my friend has invited me to her wedding in Boston in May. I really want to go but I'm just not sure with the whole moving to Sweden thing. It's not the money but the time. May would be the time I have to really panic if I haven't found somewhere of my own to rent rather than the serviced apartment work pay for. Of course, I think I will have found somewhere and I hope to be moving in then. Still, that'll require time as I'll have to make sure everything here is packed. Not sure what to do really. I'll have to think about it for a while.

Title: Recipes from Pegasus
Rating: PG
Pairing: Subtle McShep and obvious Teyla/Lorne
Spoilers: All 5 seasons
Summary: After the stargate program was de-classified in 2010 and the initial furore died down, the book that captured the zeitgeist of the entire planet, tapping in to the almost insatiable curiosity for all things related to the Stargate Program, was Recipes from Pegasus. It was an accessible way for everyone to understand a little bit more about the people who had spent the last eight years living in an alien galaxy, fighting to keep Earth safe. It's author, Grace Mallory, the head chef of the Atlantis mission became a household name even though she appeared on a very few TV shows during the publicity tour. More importantly her stories about the daily lives of the people of Atlantis made them appear much more human than all the high octane TV specials did.

Read the pdf file here at box.net or at megaupload here. After a few issues, there's a word version at the box.net site for those who can't view the pdf.

After many problems, I've put an unformatted (no pics or backgrounds) here
that everyone should be able to read.

Notes: This was written as a Christmas present for my f-list and now that the festive season has passed and they've unwrapped their presents I thought it was time to publish it. I have to say an enormous thank you to
[livejournal.com profile] winkingstar  posted too. There's some saying about great minds that comes to mind :-)

A Dell Inspirion 1545. A sleek, black, John Sheppard of a thing. Yum.

Course there were a few false starts, like the cable not working properly. The good thing is the one from my old Dell works fine with it. Hmmm, now it needs a restart. Ho hum

Oww!

I've scaled my fingers on steam when I unwrapped my warmed up lasagne after microwaving it. I'm now sitting with my left hand in a glass of cold water to stop it hurting.

This may seem like deja vu. Yes, I have done this before so clearly I'm a special kind of idiot.

I've taken the Christmas tree down and packed away all the decorations. I guess that's it all over for another year. Again, another big thank you to all for the gifts and presents. It was weird taking down the decorations and tree because it made me realize this'll probably be my last Christmas in this house because I think next year I'll be in Sweden. It's scary and weird and a shame because I love this house, even if the boiler is flaky and there's a patch of damp appearing by the chimney in the loft. Also the bathroom suite is avocodo and makes a little nauseous every time I go in there.

This year is going to be a big year, either moving to Sweden or taking the redundancy. I'm still not sure which I'll do. The default choice is to go I think as my boss really wants me to go and the deal for relocation is very good, but I still don't know all the details. On the other hand the redundancy money will be good and I could get the bathroom, the damp and the boiler fixed, but that assumes I could find another job. The current job market is scary and I hate job hunting.

On to other, less terrifying things, my friend Steve and I have decided to go to Comic Con in 2010. We're going to do a road trip down from San Fransisco to San Diego and see the sights on the way. I'm very excited and it's over 18 months away. Of course it could all go wrong in Sweden and I'll have to use my savings to move my stuff back to the UK. We'll see. It does help that I've got enough frequent flyer points to get me a business return to anywhere in the world so at least I don't have to save for that.

I watched Vegas today. I enjoyed it. Not the best episode ever but never the less enjoyable. I'm not saying more in case people haven't seen it yet.

I've started writing a story, which I hope will work out well, but at my usual slow pace could take a while. Especially with all the RL stuff going on. Of course I couldn't start it at the beginning of my festive vacation. No, I have to start it the day before I go back to work. Foolish girl.

I took this today (30th December, yes DECEMBER. It's not even New Year yet) in Tesco. It's on the aisle with the Christmas stuff they're trying to sell off. In fact it's opposite the Christmas puddings they have left. No, your eyes are not lying, they are f*cking Easter eggs. In December!

Also, I just found the post I made on Christmas day wishing you all a good day didn't post. I was posting from the browser on my phone from bed before I got up, so I didn't check it actualy posted. Silly me, trusting the phone I helped to make :-) So, I hope you had a good day. If you didn't, I hope the New Year will bring you all you hope for.

I have to say a huge thank you to [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan  for her fantabulous present. I'm quite sure you know exactly what I was imagining at the end, [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan . Thank you, it's brilliant.

I went out this morning and had a little walk up on the hill about a mile from where I live. The cloud was in low again and the day before it was great driving up there on the way to the shops so I thought I'd try to get some pictures. The one I really wanted was in the village with the church not much more that a shadow rising out of the gloom but there was no where to really get the shot.
